johnwoodcockillustration.co.uk is the product of a creative partnership between myself and my partner Carol.

Carol and I met at Norwich School of Art, where we were both studying on the Graphic Design degree course. After leaving Norwich we moved to London, me to start freelancing as an illustrator, Carol initially to a magazine publisher, then moving on to a large publishing house. After 2 years freelancing I was offered a job as an in-house illustrator at a design consultancy, dealing mainly with publishing clients, where I made a lot of the contacts which subsequently helped me when I went back to freelancing. Carol worked her way up through the company, and was a senior designer there when we decided to move out of London and back to East Anglia. We’ve lived in the area ever since and feel a strong connection to the coast and countryside.

Carol went freelance soon after moving and we combined freelance careers with raising our family. Carol returned to college to complete a post graduate qualification seven years ago, and we also embarked on selling our images online, which proved a successful venture. We have increasingly concentrated on selling

our images that way, whilst still maintaining a core of more conventional freelance work.

We decided that our large catalogue of imagery would translate well to selling branded merchandise and have consequently started to diversify in that direction. Our interests are varied, we love all things visual, antiques, fabrics, clothes, colours, collecting ephemera, listening to music, plants, gardens, cats and dogs, drawing, films, reading, spending time in France and lying in the sun daydreaming.

We have a strong connection to all things paper based, probably developed from our publishing backgrounds. Our products are evolving from this interest, with the use of textured paper each item becomes quite tactile and our love of strong colour helps to create striking imagery.

Our aim is to produce something that has a hand crafted feel, in small numbers, not mass produced and we have a large portfolio of images that we want to utilize so intend to add to our product list regularly.

Thanks for your interest, John & Carol.

No one cares! Your stock illustrations suck!

Hi there. Love your work. May I have your permission to use this image in my school assignment in a research document?

It is not a publicly displayed assignment.

John, I love your designs. I don’t know if you’re still active on this site, but I’m currently looking for a logo and I’m wondering if we could talk?
